Key findings:

- Florida, California, and Texas are the leading domestic destinations for spring break this year, while Central America, Europe, and the Caribbean are the leading international spring break destinations
- Spring break travellers face rising travel costs, partially attributed to geopolitical conflict.
One in four (24%) Americans plan to travel for spring break
Four in ten (43%) have no plans to travel for spring break, while 33% plan to remain only-local while school is out. Among those who plan to travel:
- 57% plan to travel to another state
- 33% plan to travel to another city or area in the same state
- 22% plan to travel to another country
- 10% also plan to stay local
Among those who plan to travel to another state or somewhere within their current state:
- Florida (25%) is the top destination, followed by California (16%) and Texas (10%)
- 7% plan to travel to Arizona, and 5% look to spend spring break in Hawaii
- Interstate travel is split between car and plane: 52% plan to travel by car, while 54% expect to travel by plane
Americans planning to to travel internationally for spring break are split between Central America, Europe, and the Carribbean:
- 28% plan to travel to Mexico (19%) or Central America (10%)
- 28% are planning to travel to Europe
- 28% plan to travel to a country in the Caribbean
- 11% are travelling to South America
- 11% are travelling to Asia
- 18% are travelling to another country or region
Most spring breakers travellers (69%) are aiming for $300 or less per day as nearly half (47%) say this year’s travels are more expensive than last year’s:
- 34% are budgeting for less than $150 per day
- 35% plan to spend between $150 to $300 per day
- 17% plan to spend between $301 to $600 per day
- 14% plan to spend more than $600 per day
- The majority of (58%) solo travelers are more likely to spend under $150
Half of travellers (47%) have had their travel plans impacted due recent international geopolitical conflict
- 32% say they have noticed increased costs attributed to geopolitical conflict
- 10% changed their destination
- 7% changed the duration of their trip
- 6% changed their mode of travel for the trip
- 4% cancelled their trip
More than half (54%) of Americans travelling for spring break internationally purchased travel insurance for their trip, with 14% saying they purchased travel insurance for this trip despite typically not doing so.
