3 tips for emailing surveys with our Mailchimp integration

3 tips for emailing surveys with our Mailchimp integration

As anyone in marketing knows, your target audience’s opinions and preferences can be hard to pin down.

After all, it’s hard to know how they feel about your brand, determine the value of your product/service, and think of different messages—until you ask them directly.

You can automatically email clients and prospects the survey that asks them the most relevant and important questions by integrating your SurveyMonkey data with the Marketing CRM, Mailchimp. And you can use the integration to analyze the results directly in Mailchimp so that you can make better marketing decisions, faster.

We’ll share some tips and tricks for becoming an expert at emailing surveys, but first, let’s walk through each step of connecting your two favorite primate-branded platforms!

Connect us with Mailchimp to automatically ask the right people the right questions.

There are just 6 steps you’ll need to take:

1. Log in to your Mailchimp account.

2. Click on your profile name (it’s in the upper right-hand corner of the page). You’ll see a drop-down appear. Select “Account” from the drop-down menu.

3. Click on ”Integrations.”

4. Select SurveyMonkey.

5. Select “Connect.”

6. Type in your SurveyMonkey login credentials to grant Mailchimp access to the account.

Mailchimp offers an in-depth tutorial on how to use SurveyMonkey and Mailchimp together. Read it here!

With your integration all set up, let’s explore some best practices in using it to collect higher quality responses and to review the data like a pro:

1. Edit the sender information to add a personal touch. You can customize both the name and email address that appears. This might seem like a simple detail, but if respondents recognize who’s sending the email, they’ll be more likely to open it.

Learn more about why customizing your sender information is so important.

2. Personalize follow-ups based on how people engage with your survey. Once you’ve started collecting responses, you’ll notice that Mailchimp breaks down recipients by those who’ve completed your survey, those who’ve started it but haven’t finished, and those who haven’t started it.

Mailchimp lets you email each of these groups separately—with ease. Take advantage of this opportunity by using relevant messages when following up with each group!

For example, remind those who haven’t started about your survey incentive and/or the reasons why this survey data will ultimately help them. Tell those who’ve started that they’re just a few questions away from being eligible for your prize. And thank those who’ve already completed it for providing feedback.

3. Access the latest and greatest data. Mailchimp can add the responses that came in within the past 3 hours when you click “Update Stats.” You may not get a ton of additional responses, but every data point counts when it comes to analyzing—and making decisions from—your results.

Now that you’ve combined the powers of Mailchimp and SurveyMonkey, you’ll be able to gather a whole lot of detailed feedback, quickly. You can use the insights to make smarter marketing decisions—both big and small.
