Today, SurveyMonkey announced that we achieved our ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification. In regular person speak, that means that we’ve been recognized for implementing one of the most comprehensive security frameworks in the world.
As a data company, security is one of our biggest priorities. Our Chief Information Security Officer, Brent Williams, works tirelessly with his team to ensure that our customers’ data is protected. Here’s what Brent had to say about the new certification.
"As SurveyMonkey expands in the enterprise and internationally, we are dedicated to continuous security improvements that benefit our customers. ISO accreditation ensures we have the people, processes, and technology in place to accomplish that."
What ISO 27001 means
So what kind of certification are we talking about? ISO 27001 covers the legal, physical, technical, and logical aspects of information security practices. It has to do with where we store data, how we treat it, and the processes and policies we have in place to keep it protected. We’ll be audited regularly throughout the year and inspected annually by the British Standards Institution to ensure that all of our security measures remain up to par.
We take a risk-based approach to handling information security, which keeps our security controls and practices relevant to our business and customers.
As a SurveyMonkey customer, you can rest assure that your data is being held to the highest standards of security and compliance, and that all your information is safe with us. We work with some of the world’s leading brands, and take the responsibility seriously.
Security abroad
In May, we announced the launch of our European Data Center , which locally hosts data from our customers in the area, or who are doing business there. Our ISO certification is another step in our commitment to perfecting the sophisticated, secure infrastructure that global enterprises—like our customers—require.
Usabilla, the voice of customer company that SurveyMonkey welcomed to the Troop in April of 2019, has also received its ISO 27001 certification—in July of 2019.
Whatever your organization is trying to accomplish, data helps you do it better. We promise to keep striving to give your data the best protection possible.
