All of the AI and machine learning that we use in our products is designed to empower our customers to get fast answers to their critical questions, taking the guesswork out of survey creation and analysis.

SurveyMonkey AI features are available in our product throughout the survey creation, fielding and analysis steps. Feature availability can differ by region and by plan.

Yes. We’re constantly improving our AI and machine learning models and approaches by leveraging the latest techniques available. This helps us ensure the best possible experience for our customers. In addition, a lot of our features that leverage AI and machine learning include feedback loops for our customers to provide corrections. This data is then fed back into our AI and machine learning features and allows us to constantly improve our predictions and recommendations.

Our approach is rooted in privacy by design and prioritises data minimisation. Following industry practice and consistent with our Privacy Notice, we use de-identified customer data or synthetically generated data to train and build our proprietary AI models while also protecting customer security and privacy.

We have spent many years developing a secure methodology for safely and securely improving our models with minimal invasiveness or human intervention. This involves a thorough automated method for aggregating and de-identifying data prior to use for model training. We exclude personal data from these data sets, and we set strict retention limitations on all data used for this purpose to ensure that it is deleted within a set time period after use. We also apply strict access controls for data, such that least-privilege rules apply. 

Several AI features use OpenAI or other third-party providers to generate outputs. Data shared with these third-party providers is not used to train their AI models.

All Basic and Individual account users have access to AI and machine learning features by default so you can use them with ease. If you don’t want to use these features, you can still use SurveyMonkey to create, send and analyse your surveys as you always have without AI and machine learning.
For Team and Enterprise accounts, Primary Admins can manage access to individual AI and machine learning features for their teams. Access may be on or off by default, depending on your plan. Learn how to adjust these settings here.
